Humidité

We had a pretty low key week.  There's a new season of Dinosaur Train up on Amazon Prime, so we made sure to work our way through that during TV time.  Annie has had a string of days taking 30-45 minute naps instead of her usual 2 hours (also having 2-4 night wakings . . . maybe teeth are coming in?  I wish I knew), so she got to catch the tail end of one of the episodes.
I like to see the three of them together.
We played on the park one of the days this week that it wasn't raining.  Rafe got his shorts wet in one of the tunnels, so he just took them off and played in his underwear while the shorts dried in the sun.  Those were the days . . .
I can no longer read on my Kindle app while we're down at the park, because Annie can now climb (and loves to), so I have been forced to resume my shadowing duties.
It is too humid here for me.  My hair is so confused about itself, and every time I step outside, I am instantly dripping.  Do you see the sweat rolling down my face?  I walked 100 yards outside.  I'm not THAT out of shape.
We are lucky our air conditioner works really well though, so we are fine if we're inside.
We got some hairs cut this week.  On the way Vivien said she wanted hers really short.  I said, "But you won't be able to put it in a ponytail or braid it if it's really short . . ." and then I remembered that she hardly ever keeps her hair in a ponytail or braid longer than a few hours.  Still, I was nervous about such a drastic change with her mercurial emotions . . .
So I told the girl to go for a medium bob.  And since church doesn't start till 10 and we had someone who plays piano move into the branch (Haaaaaaalelujah!), we had time to curl it today.
She wore her beloved silk dress from China (which I should have ironed) and looked very grown up.
But she is definitely still 4 years old.  On Monday Rafe had the game for family night.  We played Duck, Duck, Goose.  If Vivien was ever chosen as Goose and wasn't able to catch It, she had a complete meltdown.  Like, wailing and fleeing the room to throw herself down in despair.  We never could convince her to be It.
Here she is losing it because she doesn't want the oatmeal she requested I make.
And here she is sporting a bruise that was very nearly a trip to the ER.  Little children are rambunctious and uncoordinated.
Also clever.
And funny.  Rafe had a couple funnies this week.  His new favorite snack is "Ganilla Rafers."  Also, he will not allow the things in his car seat to be called "chest buckles".  They are "shoulder snaps."

We went out for Ramen last night.  I had mine with a harf boiled egg.  At first I thought it might be some Engrish, but they would've just said it "haafu," so I'm pretty sure it was a typo.
For Primary today one of the optional activities in the lesson was to sculpt things we are thankful for out of clay to put near our beds so we remember to say thank you to Heavenly Father for them.  My students enjoyed it, and my kids were very happy to play with the dough that was left over.  I joined them and made a dragon, since Colette is on my mind because of our birthday week, and she is my dragon sister.
