Pictures That Hid, Happenings Around the House, and Camping: Round 2
I found a couple older pictures that had been hiding on Drew's phone, so I'll just tuck them in here.
Last month we did some touristy things during Drew's last finals week EVER, just to make it more fun. Here's Drew and Vivi watching jelly fish while waiting for the harbor cruise ship downtown.
Me and Vivi on said ship.
Vivi and Rafe bundled up for a family run in the new bike trailer/jogging stroller.
Rafe in all his post-bath snuggliness.
Here's what's been going on at home this week.
Here's what Vivi did while I tuned 56 bottles.
And a front shot of those pig tails, which she loves.
Chilling on Mom and Dad's bed. It is ironic that Vivi is playing with her toothbrush in this picture because she won't suffer it to come within a foot of her mouth when it's actually time to brush her little chompers. We are going to the dentist this week to figure out what's going on with her crazy teeth.
A diagram of her mouth at present.
Her snarly teeth certainly don't make her any less cute! This is their first bath together.
I keep finding slimy trails all over the carpet by our sliding door in the morning and I finally caught the culprit in the act! Our back porch is covered with them and somehow they manage to squeeze themselves inside. Gross.
We camped in a tent as a family!
It takes A LOT of gear to go camping with little kids. We had to put some things on top of our car, but the straps Drew used to secure it were vibrating too much in the wind, so he wrapped paper bags around them to make them less resonant. Clever boy.
Rafe hung out in his bouncy seat a lot around camp. I'm afraid it will smell a little like campfire forevermore, but it was worth it to have a safe place to put him.
Here's Vivi in her own little camp chair. She was so excited to explore her new surroundings, she seemed to forget how to use the potty. Unfortunately, her memory loss corresponded with the most times she's had to poop in one day that I can recall. So many accidents . . . good thing I brought enough extra clothes for her!
Vivi also enjoyed playing in the creek and watching Daddy swim in the cold water.
She and Pippa cuddled up in a towel afterwards to keep warm.
And, of course, she wanted to go back to the river as soon as she was in dry clothes again.
Rafe was super cute in the awesome jacket Grandma Paula gave him. It was perfect for the weather we had. He stayed nice and warm while we cooked our kebabs over the fire.
We tried to put Vivi down around 8:30 but the sun didn't set til 9:15, so the only person that fell asleep during that attempt was yours truly. I talked and sang to her for about 15 minutes, then dozed off, then when she poked me in the eye I decided to give it up as a lost cause. I brought her back out to the fire where she sat in her chair, looked around with a satisfied grin and said "Good nap!" She just doesn't get sleeping. Oh well!
Rafe slept the whole night and stayed warm and snuggly in his 6 layers. It was actually one of the best night's I'VE had in awhile because I went to bed with the sun and didn't have to get out of bed till 7!
Drew made us cowboy pancakes and bacon on our camp stove in the morning, then we packed up and drove home. All in all, I think we'll call our trip a success. We may even do it again!
